It has been a long time now that every day we are used to hear any new rumor about the next iPhone model from Apple. And yesterday, Apple finally launched its next gen smartphone, the iPhone 4S. It was launched at the event named as “Let’s Talk iPhone”.
As you may have heard in many rumors and speculations that Apple might be launching a completely redesigned iPhone dubbed as iPhone 5, well, you must have been a little disappointed to see the look of new iPhone same as the previous one. On the other hand, Apple has brought some major internal hardware and software changes in this device. So, here we are going to discuss about the new features coming in the iPhone 4S.
Overview:
Apple claims that iPhone 4S will be a world phone. It will be supporting both GSM and CDMA networks at the same time. Another interesting thing is that Apple will be selling iPhone 4S in both white and black colors and even in the same prices. As I mentioned above, there are no external hardware changes, so iPhone 4S looks exactly like the current iPhone 4. So, lets talk about the internal changes and improvements in the device:
Processor:
Apple has scaled down the A5 chip which was previously introduced in iPad 2 and loaded it into the new iPhone 4S. Apple claims that iPhone 4S will be having graphics performance 7 times better than the iPhone 4 and a double CPU performance too.
Camera:
Apple also improved the camera of its previous iPhone model and now iPhone 4S comes with an 8 MP camera sensor. This new camera unit will have a five element lens with providing support for resolutions of 3264×2448. The new camera will also enable the users to snap the photos faster and brighter. New iPhone 4S is also able to record 1080p HD videos and an additional feature of real time video image stabilization which has never been introduced in a smartphone. Last but not the least, the camera also got Hybrid IR filter. So overall, iPhone 4S’ camera will be a great improvement to all its previous models.
Antenna and Battery:
Apple claims that iPhone 4S will be able to provide 8 hours of 3G talk times battery timing, 14 hours of 2G talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing and 9 hours of WiFi browsing. Overall iPhone 4S will have a 8 hour and 36 Minute of talk time which is a bit improvement from its predecessor. iPhone 4 also had an issue with antenna, so, iPhone 4S is now going to have dual antennas. Now, users will be able to switch between two antennas to get best performance for call quality and download speeds.
Siri Personal Assistant:
Apple early this year acquired Siri and with their cooperation has developed and introduced a new intelligent virtual assistant in the iPhone 4S. The main idea is that if you simply ask anything from your phone it will answer it. You can ask weather, time, even ask it to read text messages. You can also order your phone to do tasks like write a text to someone, call to someone, make a reminder post, search on the internet etc. Siri Assistant will initially support English, German and French. For now, Apple has only launched the beta version of the app and it is exclusive for iPhone 4S only.
Release Dates:
iPhone 4S will be available for pre orders on 7th October and just a week later it will be publicly released on 14th October. Apple will also roll out the iOS 5 on 12th October.
Price:
In addition to the 16 GB and 32 GB models, Apple is introducing iPhone 4S in 64 GB model as well. 16 GB model for iPhone 4S will cost $199, 32GB will cost $299 and 64 GB iPhone 4S will cost $399.
