Here we are with the biggest news from Jailbreak community. A Jailbreak community hacker, p0sixninja who is a member of the well known hacking team, Chronic Dev. Team, announced that their team has discovered five different user land exploits for the iPad 2. The good thing is that, it is expected that these exploits will be used in the upcoming iPhone 5. P0sixninja announced this by himself while he was addressing to a Jailbreak Convention called MyGreatFest. He was looking very pleased and happy to announce these exploits to its fellow Jailbreak community, because these exploits will help the hackers to Jailbreak the iPad 2 and iPhone 5.
Well, if you are new to the Jailbreak world, then you might be wondering that what “userland” exploits mean. Let me explain to you in simple words, those exploits which are related to the software are called userland exploits and ultimately these exploits can be patched. So, if the hardware is revised, it will not matter that much when we are using the userland exploits. The same thing happened when back in 2009, a new black model of iPhone 3GS was released with an upgraded bootrom. That bootrom was added to patch the pod2g’s 24kpwn exploit in the device. It looks like that happened then, but in this case, five is a very surprising and big number of exploits and these userland exploits will remain useable even the hardware changes. So, whatever you do to the hardware, these exploits will remain there.
Now you might be thinking that what benefits we can get from these exploits. It is really simply, we will get an untethered Jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and any other device running on iOS 5, and not after a long time but very soon after their release.
As I mentioned above, Team Chronic Dev. Found out about these exploits first. Team Chronic’s one of the key member is p0d2g. He was responsible for discovering many important exploits in previous iOS based devices like 24kpwn and steaks4uce. P0d2g was also responsible for finding an exploit in the A4 processor chip which is used in iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G. Both p0d2g and p0sixninja are also mutually responsible for writing a very popular tool for jailbreaking called Greenpoison. A little while ago, it was the only untethered Jailbreak tool for iOS 4.2.1.
So, the bottom line is that these exploits which are discovered by Team Chronic will help in Jailbreaking all the upcoming iOS 5 devices and as soon as these devices are launched, we will see their Jailbreaks too. It is also being said that this jailbreak will be the most amazing jailbreak ever. So, lets wait for a few days, when we get to see the first look of the next iOS devices.
